Senator Peters Calls Out FCC For Censorship

By Mary Ellen Murphy Sep 22, 2025 | 5:48 AM

(Washington, DC) – U.S. Senator Gary Peters of Michigan is criticizing the Federal Communications Commission for violating the First Amendment with threats against ABC and parent company Disney. Peters says the threats over a monologue last week by Jimmy Kimmel are an attack on people’s rights, the freedom of speech, and freedom of the press. ABC suspended Kimmel indefinitely last week after the FCC threatened their broadcast license, and President Trump called on NBC to fire its late night hosts, Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers.

Peters says the FCC chairman making the threat against ABC because he doesn’t like the content of programming “violates the First Amendment that you claim to champion.”
