Ottawa County, MI (WGHN) – Ottawa County Emergency Management will conduct the regularly scheduled countywide outdoor warning siren test on Friday, September 5, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. (noon), weather permitting. If there is a threat of severe weather on the test day, the test will be postponed to avoid public confusion.
“These monthly tests help ensure the siren system is ready to get people’s attention when seconds matter,” said Lou Hunt of Ottawa County Emergency Management. “Siren tests are also a great reminder to review your family’s emergency plans and ensure you can receive information from multiple sources.”
What residents should know
- This is only a test. No action is needed when you hear the sirens at noon on September 5.
- Outdoor warning system: Sirens are designed to alert people who are outdoors to seek more information. They are not intended to be heard indoors.
- If you hear a siren at any other time: Move indoors and seek reliable information from local officials and media.
Preparedness reminders
