(Lansing, MI) – Two bills to make it a crime to create deepfake pornography of someone have been signed into law by Governor Whitmer. The new law calls for one year behind bars for a misdemeanor first offense, which can rise to a felony with three-years in prison if there is financial loss.
Whitmer said she is proud to sign the bipartisan bills to protect Michiganders from a rising form of sexual exploitation.
