State House Democrats Introduce Bill To Ban Federal Troop Deployment In Michigan

(Lansing, MI) – Democrats in the state House have introduced a bill to ban federal troops from being deployed in Michigan without the governor’s approval. The bill is sponsored by Representative Laurie Pohutsky from Livonia and is a direct response to President Trump taking over Washington DC’s police force and sending in the National Guard and federal agents. Majority Republicans in the Michigan House call the bill ridiculous, a distraction, and not constitutionally coherent.

Pohutsky counters by saying President Trump has taken action against cities with a “higher concentration of people of color” and says Detroit could become a target.
