CROCKERY TWP., MI (WGHN) – A 15-year-old girl from Coopersville was killed in a single-vehicle crash on State Road west of 112th Avenue, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.
The initial investigation revealed that the vehicle was traveling along State Road when the driver lost control and struck a tree on the side of the road around 10:25 p.m.
The driver, an 18-year-old male from Nunica, and the front-seat passenger, a 17-year-old female from Coopersville, were both wearing seatbelts and were uninjured.
Two other passengers — a 15-year-old male from Nunica and a 15-year-old female from Coopersville — were riding in the rear cargo area of the vehicle and were not restrained. The impact of the crash caused the female passenger to be ejected from the vehicle.
Despite life-saving efforts by first responders, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit is continuing to investigate the crash .Emergency crews from the Sheriff’s Office, Crockery Township Fire Department, and North Ottawa Ambulance responded to the crash
