(Lansing, MI) — Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel and several other attorneys general are suing the Trump administration’s efforts to restrict healthcare access for transgender youth. The lawsuit argues the administration is overstepping its authority and using threats of criminal prosecution and federal investigations to pressure healthcare providers. Equality Michigan says the decisions should be made by parents and doctors, not politicians.
The lawsuit also says federal actions aimed at preventing doctors from offering care to people younger than 19, even in Michigan where it’s legal and protected, are not legal.
