(Zeeland, MI) – Republican Congressman Bill Huizenga will not seek the state’s U.S. Senate seat in the 2026 election. Huizenga had been weighing a run for the Senate with the upcoming retirement of Democratic Senator Gary Peters. On social media, he says he made the decision to not seek the Senate seat after talking with his wife Natalie and consulting with President Trump.
Huizenga has represented part of west Michigan in Washington, DC since 2011.
