GHAPS Shares Potential Master Plan Concepts Aligned with Strategic Vision

Grand Haven, MI (WGHN) – At its regular meeting on Monday evening, the Grand Haven Area Public Schools (GHAPS) Board of Education was presented with a series of early-stage master plan concepts aimed at aligning the district’s physical spaces with the long-term goals outlined in its Strategic Plan.

These concepts are not final proposals. Instead, they represent a starting point for a broader conversation with the GHAPS community about how school buildings and facilities can best support academic excellence, student safety, and long-term sustainability.

“Our Strategic Plan lays out a clear vision for innovation, excellence, and engagement,” said Superintendent Kristin Perkowski. “The Master Plan asks what kind of learning environments we need to bring that vision to life. This is about preparing our district to meet the future—together.”

The concepts presented explore different ways the district might improve or reconfigure its facilities in response to shifting enrollment, aging infrastructure, and evolving student needs. Each is grounded in GHAPS’s core values: rigorous and relevant learning, opportunity for all, fiscal responsibility, and transparent stakeholder involvement.

Over the coming weeks and months, GHAPS will be gathering feedback from staff, families, and community members through a series of engagement events and other input opportunities. These conversations will help shape a proposed direction to be brought back to the Board of Education for consideration.

Community members are encouraged to join the conversation by attending one of several upcoming Superintendent Engagement Tour events, including Scoop with the Supt. ice cream meetups in August and Coffee & Connect sessions in September and October. Attendees will have a chance to ask questions, share ideas, and learn more about both the Strategic Plan and the long-range facility Master Plan concepts.

More information about the upcoming engagement opportunities is available at www.GHAPS.org/engage.
