(Grand Rapids, MI) – Up to four Catholic churches might be closing in the Diocese of Grand Rapids, but Bishop David Walkowiak says they want to build two new ones. They are citing a shortage of priests for the reorganization of several parishes.
As many as four churches may be put up for sale. Walkowiak says last year, they only ordained one priest, haven’t ordained any this year, and have lost seven pastors.
