Grand Haven, MI (WGHN) – The City of Grand Haven is notifying the public that the Harborfront Parking Lot, at the corner of Washington Avenue and Harbor Drive, will undergo important repairs beginning this week to address pressing safety and accessibility concerns. These repairs are part of an interim improvement plan as the City continues to work closely with its partners at BDR to envision a more permanent, aesthetically enhanced long-term reconstruction of the lot.
Site preparation, including necessary tree removal, will begin on today, Wednesday, June 18 and continue through Friday, June 20. During this time, the parking lot will be fully closed to the public for safety reasons. The lot is expected to reopen by early afternoon on Friday.
Concrete work is scheduled for Monday, June 23 and Tuesday, June 24. During this phase, the lot will remain partially open, with sections closed off as needed to accommodate work crews and ensure public safety.
All scheduled work is weather dependent.
These short-term improvements aim to create a more functional and accessible space for residents and visitors in the interim period prior to comprehensive planning and engineering for the Harborfront lot being finalized.
The city appreciates the public’s patience and understanding as we move forward with these necessary upgrades.
Questions or inquiries regarding the parking lot repair can be directed to Ashley Latsch, City Manager, or Michael England, Director of Public Works.
