GH planning commission to meet tonight

Grand Haven, MI (WGHN) –  Grand Haven Planning Commission meets tonight at City Hall at 7:00 p.m.  There are two public hearings.  The first is for the a proposed development at 233 Washington Avenue It’s a  128-room Residence Inn by Marriott by 6PM Hospitality Partners and BDR Inc.

Chandi Pape is Executive Director of GH Mainstreet and says the project aligns with the Downtown Vision Plan and supports extended-stay tourism, downtown walkability, and economic growth.

There would not be a restaurant in the hotel.

Maximum occupancy

• July/August – 95%

• Jan/Feb – 30%

• Remaining Months – 60%

Public Hearing #2: Centertown Zoning Text Amendment

The second hearing will consider a zoning text amendment request. This amendment would allow short-term rentals as a permitted use in the Centertown Overlay of the Neighborhood Mixed-Use District.

If approved, this change could open new opportunities for property owners in Centertown while also raising considerations for residential character, housing availability, and tourism-driven activity in the neighborhood.

Both meetings will be streamed on the City of Grand Haven’s Facebook page.
