Grand Haven, MI (WGHN) – Sweet Temptations in Grand Haven, along with member shops with the North American Ice Cream Association, is inviting you to celebrate National Ice Cream for Breakfast Day on February 1, 2025.
This event is celebrated every year on the first Saturday of February and dates back to the mid 1960s when, as the story goes, Florence Rappaport came up with the idea on a snowy Rochester, New York morning to entertain her six children.
Kelly Larson of Sweet Temptations stopped into the WGHN studios to tell us more. Hear the interview below.
The tradition spread from state to state and eventually country to country where this annual event is celebrated as far away as New Zealand, Germany, and China.
This February 1, stop in to Sweet Temptations for limited release ice cream flavors (such as maple bacon, cereal milk, cinnamon crunch cereal, and coffee!), waffle and donut sundaes, and hot chocolate floats featuring their nationally-award winning ice cream. The store will open at 8am and serve ice-cream inspired breakfast treats until noon. Attendees are encouraged to wear their pajamas.
You can make your mark on the Ice Cream Association’s Ice Cream for Breakfast map when you visit Sweet Temptations for this celebration. The association will be tallying participating stores and the number of customers celebrating. Our goal is to see communities come together and eat over a million ice cream treats! What could be better than Ice Cream for Breakfast?
Sweet Temptations, owned by Kelly Larson, is located at 621 Miller Drive, Grand Haven, in the Grand Landing Development near Paisley Pig
