Nunica/Norton Shores- (WGHN) – Westbound I-96 is scheduled to close between M-104 and US-31 on Friday, October 18 at 7 p.m. through 3 p.m. Monday, October 21. All westbound I-96 traffic must exit at or before M-104. Posted detour: West on M-104 to northbound US-31.
The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is investing approximately $700,000 to install a new culvert under I-96 in Muskegon County just east of the Hile Road interchange.
Eastbound I-96 is scheduled to be closed 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23 through 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27. Detour: M-104 and US-31.
Jobs numbers: Based on economic modeling, this investment is expected to directly and indirectly support eight jobs.
Safety benefit: This project will improve drainage and extend the service life of I-96.
