(Detroit, MI) — The two-story, 40-thousand-square-foot expansion of the Motown Museum is scheduled to be open in the summer of 2026. Officials revealed the new timeline yesterday during an event at the museum on West Grand Boulevard in Detroit. The expansion is costing 75-million-dollars, up from the initial price tag of 50-million-dollars. Planning for the expansion has been ongoing for the past eight years.
Some of the delays are due to the COVID-19 pandemic and mandated environmental approvals that were unexpected.
