Grand Haven, MI (WGHN) – A tribute to the late Mike Smith Commander Michael J. Smith, (U.S. Coast Guard, Retired) and former executive director of the Grand Haven Coast Guard Festival took place Thursday evening at the Honorees Dinner.
The United States Coast Guard will name the Grand Haven Coast Guard station in honor of the late Mike Smith, who was the executive director of the Grand Haven Coast Guard Festival.
It will be called the Commander Michael J. Smith Building. A painting will hang in the foyer. Smith was Executive Director of the Grand Haven Coast Guard Festival for 17 years.
