West Olive, MI (WGHN) – The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office has selected Axon Inc. as the vendor for the Body Camera / In Car Camera project. The project was approved in the FY 2024/2025 budget by the Ottawa County Board of Commissioners. After an extensive process and research under the County’s bid and purchasing guidelines, this contract award will provide the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office with the state-of-the-art body camera and in car camera video capabilities county wide. Axon’s body-worn cameras are used by more major law enforcement agencies than any other brand in the world.

Axon is a technology leader in global public safety. Axon is building the public safety operating system of the future by integrating a suite of hardware devices and cloud software solutions that lead to modern policing.

Axon’s suite includes TASER energy devices, body-worn cameras, in-car cameras, cloud-hosted digital evidence management solutions, productivity software and real-time operations capabilities. Axon’s growing global customer base includes first responders across international, federal, state, and local law enforcement, fire, corrections, and emergency medical services, as well as the justice sector.

Every Axon product, from conducted energy weapons to body-worn cameras, to their digital management systems (Evidence, Justice, Community) integrates seamlessly with one another, complementing the systems and processes law enforcement already use. That connectedness does not stop at the company’s products. With the features built into Axon’s solutions, law enforcement can connect with partners, from county officials to neighboring agencies to prosecutors working on a case.

Sheriff Steve Kempker says work will begin within the next several weeks to begin the county wide system build out for the Sheriff’s Office. This project will include approximately 200 body cameras and 120 car cameras along with system software and operating systems.
