Hundreds Of Cows Escape Ottawa County Barn Fire

(Coopersville, MI) – Roughly 500 cows have escaped a barn fire in Ottawa County. The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office and several surrounding fire departments responded to an agricultural structure fire at a dairy farm located on the 17000 block of 56th Ave within Polkton Township. Information received disclosed that a fire broke out on the east side of a large agricultural building at the dairy farm with cows still inside of the building. The owner, employees, responding deputies, fire personnel, and area citizens assisting with rescuing the animals. Multiple local area fire departments responded for aid. Multiple cows were able to escape the fire and were rounded up by citizens and first responders.

Investigation continues on the origins of the fire. Many thanks to the area citizens who responded for help on scene.
