(GRAND HAVEN)-The bands playing at Lynne Sherwood Waterfront Stadium during the upcoming 100th Coast Guard Festival will rock.
Following the trend and success of rock cover bands at various celebrations and events nationwide, festival organizers have booked four classic rock tribute acts for this year’s entertainment lineup.
Tributes to AC/DC, Queen, Heart, and Van Halen will be playing the Waterfront Mainstage this summer. The Queen tribute, “Simply Queen,” has played the festival several years running and has become a perennial favorite.
Ticketmaster reported in 2019 that tribute and cover bands sell an average of 1.7 million tickets per year in the United States. Acts paying homage to bands no longer touring, affordable tickets, and these groups playing locations not often visited by major music tours were cited in the study as reasons for the success of the tribute band genre.
Bands will be playing the waterfront mainstage from July 26th through August 3rd. The complete lineup is listed below.
