(Grand Rapids, MI) – A bill in the state House is aiming to help the state produce insulin for people who are diabetic in the state as pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly says there is a shortage of the drug. Representative Curt VanderWall of Ludington has introduced the bill to create a regulatory framework for the state to be able to partner with a private sector company to provide affordable insulin. He says they have a goal to have the bill before the full House by the second week of May.

According to Medicare, the price of insulin rose by 55-percent from 2014 to 2019.
