Grand Haven, MI (WGHN) – Ottawa County Commissioner Roger Bergman joined Good Morning Grand Haven today for a recap of last night’s meeting with the board. He also discussed the rumor that Ottawa Impact Board members are asking for a raise with health insurance. They state the job of a commissioner has become a full time job.

Roger is hosting Coffee with a Commissioner Thursday evening at Spring Lake Library at 5:00 p.m. He says he’s making cookies too.

The Ottawa County Board of Commissioners have passed an anti-abortion resolution. Chairperson and Ottawa Impact Founder Joe Moss says the resolution, which is called “Resolution to Promote Life,” would not allow for any county staff or resources to be allocated to provide abortions or to provide transportation for abortion services.

Commissioner Zylstra voted no.

Commissioner Bergman voted no and said that the resolution has a divisive affect on citizens in the county. He said the resolution had no business being on the agenda.
Commissioner Jacob Bonnema was not present at that time for the vote. Meanwhile, an officer with the Ottawa County Health Department says the department does not provide abortions or transportation for abortion services.

It was standing room only as The Satanic Temple of West Michigan gave the invocation. The meeting lasted over four hours.
