(Georgetown Township, MI) – A local family is suing a Jenison Wendy’s franchise owner after their daughter got extremely sick after eating at the restaurant. The family of eleven-year-old Aspen Lamfers says Aspen ate at the Wendy’s on Port Sheldon Street in August of 2022 and then was hospitalized with an E. coli infection which later turned into hemolytic uremic syndrome. After dialysis, seizures, and weeks in the hospital, Aspen is still to this day dealing with high blood pressure, weakness, diabetes, brain damage, and more. Health records show that the restaurant closed voluntarily due to health risks prior to when Aspen ate at the restaurant.

The lawsuit seeks 20-million-dollars from Meritage Hospitality Group, which owns hundreds of restaurants across 16 states.
