(Grand Rapids, MI) – This is National Work Zone Awareness Week and the Michigan Department of Transportation says nearly 19-hundred people were injured in work zones last year. Among those, 20 people were killed including two road workers. Logan Brown of Hartford will be sentenced today for the crash last March that killed Van Buren County Road Commission worker Rene Rangel and faces up to 15 years in prison.

Kent County Road Commission managing director Jerry Byrne says people need to slow down in work zones and adds slowing to 45-miles-an-hour will only add a minute to someone’s commute.
