(Grand Rapids, MI) – Former Calvin University president Wiebe Boer and his wife, Joanna Boer, are suing the university in federal court over his resignation. The lawsuit claims breach of contract, discrimination, and defamation in his resignation earlier this year. He was called to a meeting February 22 where administrators told him he was being accused by an employee of a contractor used by Calvin to staff events at DeWit Manor, his on-campus home, of sending unwanted or inappropriate text message.

Boer says Calvin intentionally painted him in a false light that damaged his reputation.
