Grand Haven, MI (WGHN) – When one thinks about the community and those who have made a lasting impact, Sharon Yonker is at the top of the list.

Marcie Lynch who is part of Bucs Pride says had this to say about Sharon.

A friend who is an ultimate giver of Time, Talent and Treasure; SHARON YONKER. We are choosing to honor her by raising $80,000 for 80th Birthday on July 4th of this year. The celebration began on January 22 with a kick off meeting sharing our vision. To date we have been able to raise $30,000 of this. The funds raised will be divided between four funds that Sharon is passionate about.”

Hear the interview below with Marcie Lynch and Renee Denslow of Bluebird Cancer Retreats.

WAYS TO HELP:

Bucs Pride

GHAPS Athletic Dept aka a NEW GOLF cart

The Gene Rothi Memorial Fund

The Sharon Yonker Spirit of Giving Fund.

Bucs Pride raises fund to Inspire the Community to Honor survivors of cancer, Remember Loved Ones, and Passionately Give BACK.

The Golf Cart is used by Sharon to give rides to those who attend sporting events that might need help getting to a field on the High School campus. She donates hours to this cause

The Gene Rothi Memorial Fund supports the greatest needs of our coaches and students through sports at GHAPS

The Sharon Yonker Spirit of Giving Fund was started to honor the generosity that Sharon does each and everyday with her Time, Talent and Treasure.

The funds we have raised thus far has been from Individuals, businesses, groups, a penny war, and a Letter writing campaign. Planned events are a Culver’s Night, Lasagna Dinner at the Legion, Penny War at the High School, drop off spots at local businesses, Bluebird Flock Party VIP table and events added as people wish. We have stayed away from social media as we want to protect Sharon’s name for any possible scams. We are finding grass roots is working.

You can donate online to the Sharon Yonker Spirit of Giving Fund or the Gene Rothi Memorial Fund or mail your check to the Grand Haven Area Community Foundation at 6 Sherman Ave (made out to GHACF and put the name of the fund in the memo line).
