Stage 1 of Ferry Street Water Main Project starts Monday

Grand Haven, MI (WGHN) – The City of Grand Haven will begin Stage 1 of the Ferry Street Water Main Project will begin on Monday,April 1st, with the temporary closure of the intersection at Ferry Street and Grant Avenue.

The intersection is anticipated to re-open to traffic by May 1, 2024. During this timeframe, the intersection will be closed to through traffic. Access will be maintained for residents within the project area. All others will be directed around the project site along Beechtree Street. Please follow the posted detour routes. The intersection is anticipated to reopen on or before May 1, 2024. At that time, the second stage of the project will begin.

The anticipated timeline is as follows:
Stage 1 – Ferry/Grant Intersection, April – May
Stage 2 – Grant Street to Taylor Avenue, May-Mid-Summer
Stage 3 – Taylor Avenue to South of Robbins Road, Mid-Summer – October

A new water main is being constructed to ensure water system reliability as the region experiencescontinued growth. The water main will be installed in the west lane of Ferry Street between Grant
Avenue and just south of Robbins Road. Both lanes of Ferry Street will be re-paved. The project is a partnership between Grand Haven Charter Township, the Ottawa County Road Commission, and the City of Grand Haven. The Ottawa County Road Commission is funding the project through the sale of bonds on behalf of Grand Haven Charter Township.
