Muskegon, MI (WGHN) – The West Michigan Student Showcase has been a staple along the lakeshore for 43 years. The annual celebration showcases close to 200 students from 30 different school districts throughout Muskegon, Ottawa, Oceana, Newaygo, and Mason Counties. Good Morning Grand Haven spoke with Carla M. Flanders, Showcase Executive Producer and Owner of CMF Marketing & Events.

Students are selected by their individual schools in the competitive areas of Digital Media Arts, Literary Arts, Performing Arts, and Visual Arts, as well as the recognition areas of Academics and Athletics. Monetary awards are given in the competitive categories for first, second, and third place, including a Showstopper award in the Performing Arts category. Total prizes awarded to student’s exceeds $10,000!

Showcase will take place March 20 and March 21, 2024, at the Frauenthal Center. Each night students from different high schools will perform. March 21 is the awards ceremony. School performances based on dates will be available after March 7. See full list of participating schools below.

$6 one night / $10 both nights (students)
$10 one night / $15 both nights (adults)

$15 each night (all)

Carla M. Flanders, Showcase Executive Producer and Owner of CMF Marketing & Events commented,

“There is so much talent along the lakeshore, this annual showcase is a must see! We encourage the community to come out and support local students by attending the event on March 20 and 21. Guests will enjoy a variety of performances including music, dance, theatre, and comedy. Plus, attendees will experience movie trailers, view literary excerpts, and can visit the Hilt Building Reception Gallery to see student art!”

This production is made possible through the Muskegon Area ISD and supported by the West Michigan community through donations and local volunteers. Randy Lindquist, Superintendent, Muskegon Area ISD commented, “Celebrating 43 years of excellence, Showcase continues to shine a light on the incredible student talent and creativity in the West Michigan area. Showcase embodies the essence of academic, artistic, and athletic brilliance in our area and is a great way for everyone to see the extraordinary talents of our broader community’s youth.”
