(Traverse City, MI) – The National Cherry Festival Air Show might not continue past 2026 as the festival had until 5 p.m. yesterday to sign an agreement for stipulations for the Cherry Capitol Airport. Airport CEO Kevin Klein says the air show can jeopardize airline service and air ambulances, and says the National Cherry Festival is not considering that. He says his job is to make sure the airport is available to everyone and not just the Cherry Festival’s air show.
Air Show director Christian Smith says they have been in talks with the Northwest Regional Airport Authority that operates the airport.
