West Olive, MI (WGHN) -Today, July 17, the Ottawa County Election Commission approved the language in the petition to recall Commissioner Lucy Ebel.
The recall effort can now move on to the next stage of gathering signatures. The recall effort is the work of a coalition of District 2 citizens across political parties. The petition is sponsored by Larry Jackson, a resident of Park Township.
In response to the decision, Jackson said, “We’re pleased that the Election Commission agreed that our petition language is clear and factual, and we’re excited and ready to move forward with getting signatures. Lucy Ebel is too extreme for Ottawa County, and we’re confident there are thousands of voters in District 2 who agree.”
Joe Spaulding, who lives in Holland Township and is coordinating petition circulation, added, “The recall committee has been working 24/7 to be prepared to start gathering signatures the minute our language was approved. We have nearly 200 volunteers ready to hit the streets.”
