Grand Haven, MI (WGHN) – Major delays for drivers in the tri cities with double lane closures on NB US-31 while the contractor places an epoxy overlay on the bascule bridge structure. Single left lane closures currently in place will remain 7- 9:00a.m. Wednesday and Thursday. The middle lane will be closed from 9-3:00p.m.
All lanes on NB US-31 will be open by 3:00p.m. both Wednesday and Thursday.
Starting Friday, May 12 Northbound US-31 will return to single right lane closure. Marc Frederickson with MDOT tells WGHN that construction should wrap up by Memorial Day and pick back up in the fall.
UPDATE:
15-minute TOTAL closures for bridge work are scheduled for tonight and Thursday night between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. on northbound and southbound US-31 over the Grand River. Lane closures on US-31 remain in effect through May 15.
The non-motorized path over the Grand River will be closed for several (non-peak) hours at a time for two days during the week of 5/15. Users may contact Harbor Transit for rides. The closures are required for epoxy overlay application on the path.
