(Washington, DC) – The nation’s capital is quiet so far after former President Trump was indicted by a grand jury. But D.C. Police aren’t letting their guard down. The department is preparing for possible protests, confirming there’s no word of any planned demonstrations. Still, barriers will remain around the Capitol. They were put up last week when Trump thought he would be arrested and asked supporters to take action.

The U.S. Secret Service is now talking with New York authorities about transporting former President Donald Trump to Manhattan to face criminal charges.  The law enforcement agency says it’s working with state authorities and Trump’s lawyers to provide for a safe surrender, and that its role is transportation and personal protection, and they are not taking part in Trump’s arrest. The former president was indicted Thursday by a Manhattan grand jury investigating payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels during the 2016 presidential campaign. Trump has released a statement saying he’s “completely innocent,” and his lawyers are calling his indictment a political attack. He’s the first former president to face criminal charges.

The 76-year-old is due in court Tuesday on charges related to hush money payments made to an adult film star in 2016.
