THE NORTON SHORE POLICE DEPARTMENT IS WARNING AREA CITIZENS OF A NUMBER OF SCAMS CURRENTLY UNDERWAY IN THE COMMUNITY. AUTHORITIES REPORT THAT THE FRAUDS INCLUDE CLAIMS OF OVERDUE UTILITY BILLS, UNPAID FEDERAL TAXES AND ILLEGITIMATE JOB POSTINGS ON CLASSIFIED ADVERTISEMENT WEBSITES.

Unemployment Rate Decending

State officials report that Michigan's unemployment rate in November was the lowest monthly rate in over eight years. According to the Department of Technology, Management & Budget the state's jobless rate last month fell by four-tenths of a percentage point to 6.7 percent, the lowest since April 2006.

Making Ammends with Cuba

Soon to be Michigan's Senior U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow says President Barack Obama's decision to restore full diplomatic relations with Cuba is good news for the state. Stabenow reported after Obama's speech to the nation yesterday that the president's announcement means trade will resume between the U.S. and Cuba, which will provide more export opportunities for Michigan agriculture and the auto industry.
