The Norton Shores Police department has issued an advisory alerting area drivers to only use reputable wrecker services that they specifically request in the event of a mishap. Department officials have announced that there is a new law that prohibits wrecker companies from soliciting motorists directly on the road without first being called.
The Michigan Senate met yesterday for a rare Monday session as elected state lawmakers look to wrap up their final voting of the year and leave Lansing this week. According to the Associated Press any legislation that is not approved by Thursday, including major road repair legislation will die on the floor meaning the process potentially starts from scratch come January under the new administration.
As lawmakers continue to debate what to do about the threat of Asian carp in the Great Lakes, scientists say the invasive “faucet snail” from Europe carries parasites fatal to some aquatic birds is spreading across the five lake region. According to officials at Grand Valley State University's Annis Water Resources Institute in Muskegon the discovery was made during recent monitoring of the condition of Great Lakes wetlands.
The World War II landing ship USS LST 393 Veterans Museum in Muskegon is on the list for a new paint job come better weather. Muskegon county Mlive-dot-com reports that museum officials are seeking to raise 30 thousand dollars for the project and also volunteers to restore the ship's exterior to her original "D-Day Gray" color scheme from its currently painted "Pacific Jungle Camouflage".
