(Lansing, MI) – The Michigan House has approved a controversial package of bills that seek to roll back the state’s 2023 clean energy mandates. The two bills would repeal Michigan’s requirement that utilities generate at least 80-percent of their power with clean energy sources by 2035 and 100-percent by 2040. Energy-saving requirements utilities also have to meet every year would also be loosened.
Supporters of the bills say the changes are needed to improve reliability of electricity and keep bills lower.
