Spring Lake Motorcyclist Killed in Early Morning Crash with Pickup Truck in Crockery Township

Crockery Twp., MI (WGHN) – The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal crash involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck in Crockery Township early Sunday morning.

Deputies were dispatched to the scene around 12:24 a.m. near State Road and 136th Avenue. According to investigators, a 35-year-old man from Spring Lake was riding the motorcycle when it collided with a pickup truck that was backing out of a private driveway onto State Road.

Authorities say that as the truck entered the roadway, the motorcyclist accelerated and attempted to pass around it. During the maneuver, the motorcycle struck the truck, causing the rider to be thrown from the bike.

Emergency responders attempted lifesaving measures at the scene, but the motorcyclist was pronounced dead.

The pickup truck was driven by a 39-year-old man from Kalamazoo, who had two passengers in the vehicle. None of the occupants in the truck were injured.

State Road was temporarily closed while investigators processed the scene but has since reopened. The crash remains under investigation.
