OTTAWA COUNTY, MI (WGHN) – A 58-year-old West Olive man was seriously injured Sunday evening after his motorcycle struck a dog and veered off the road in Olive Township, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies responded around 5:05 p.m. to 136th Avenue near Barry Street for a reported crash.
Investigators say the motorcyclist was traveling north on 136th Avenue when he hit a dog in the roadway. The motorcycle then left the east side of the road and crashed into multiple mailboxes.
The rider was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. The condition of the dog was not immediately known.
Authorities closed 136th Avenue between Barry Street and Van Buren Street following the crash. The roadway was expected to reopen around 7:30 p.m.
The incident remains under investigation.
