(Detroit, MI) – Washtenaw County Prosecutor Eli Savit is the nominee of the Michigan Democratic Party for Attorney General, and Lieutenant Governor Garlin Gilchrist is the nominee for Secretary of State. They were chosen at the party’s nominating convention at Huntington Place in Detroit Sunday. Savit was chosen over Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald and Gilchrist won over Ingham County Clerk Barb Byrum and former Michigan Lottery Commissioner Suzanna Shkreli.
They will face Republican Eaton County Prosecutor Doug Lloyd in the Attorney General race and Macomb County Clerk Anthony Forlini for Secretary of State in the November election.
