(Undated) – A new study highlights the importance of small talk or short conversations being good for mental health. An experiment laid out in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology involves 18-hundred people with a wide variety of interests that were forced to engage in five minute conversations. Results consistently showed people couldn’t predict how much they would enjoy talking about topics they thought would be boring whether it would be with friends of strangers.

A recent study by AARP shows 40-percent of adults report feeling lonely.
