Grand Haven, MI (WGHN) – If you’re in downtown Grand Haven, you may notice construction at one of Washington Avenue’s most familiar storefronts.
Fortino’s Gourmet General Store is undergoing renovations, along with Alegria Boutique, which shares the same historic building.
Kelly Larson:
Crews are replacing windows, updating flooring, repairing the rear ramp, and installing a new version of the store’s iconic sign.
Much of the original sign couldn’t be saved, but its signature look will remain. Both businesses are staying open during construction, with regular hours continuing.
Owner Kelly Larson says the work is about preserving the building while making needed improvements. The project is expected to wrap up by mid-April, with exterior work finishing even sooner.
Fortino’s has been a part of the downtown community since 1923.
