(Grand Rapids, MI) – Governor Gretchen Whitmer and Congresswoman Hillary Scholten discussed housing policies to help solve Michigan’s severe housing crisis in Grand Rapids on Monday. The Michigan State Housing Development Authority says the state has a shortage of 119-thousand homes and affordability is a big problem. Scholten says west Michigan is seeing “massive growth,” but people are struggling to find a home they can afford.

Whitmer says one area that is not being met is helping homeowners have the ability to create an in-law suite.
