(Lansing, MI) – Voters in Michigan would decide primary elections in May instead of August under eight bills passed by the state Senate yesterday. The Great Lakes state is one of 14 that hold primaries in August and lawmakers want to join the 11 states holding them earlier in the year. Cities would also be allowed to hold primary elections in May starting in 2028.

The bills still need House approval.
