Grand Haven Twp., MI (WGHN) –  A 182-acre, mixed-housing development could bring 610 new housing units to Grand Haven Township. The updated Blueberry Woods plan was presented to the township planning commission Monday, March 16.

The project, now expanded by 82 acres near U.S. 31 and M-45, would include 224 apartments, 164 townhomes, 33 condos, and 189 single-family homes. Developers say the plan is designed to meet “many stages of life,” with a mix of building types, over 85 acres of open space, ponds, wetlands, a community clubhouse, and pickleball courts.

MLive reports that Redstone Homes would build the apartments, while JTB Homes and Interra Homes handle other sections. Apartments would go up first, followed by townhomes and single-family homes, with the full project expected to take 7 to 10 years.

Township officials praised the plan, noting it adds needed housing variety and preserves natural spaces. Developers will return to the planning commission with an amended proposal, including more parking and waterfront access.

Prices are expected to range from the upper $200,000s for townhomes, $350,000–$400,000 for condos, and $300,000–$600,000 for single-family homes.

Access to the development would be off M-45 and 152nd Avenue, with over five miles of sidewalks planned for walkability.

After Monday’s meeting, developers will come back to the planning commission with a revised Planned Unit Development proposal by April.
