Grand Haven, MI (WGHN) – The Grand Haven Area Public Schools Board of Education continued discussions Monday night about a potential bond proposal that could appear on the November ballot. The conversation comes despite recent survey results indicating voters would likely oppose a $214.8 million bond proposal if it were placed on the ballot in May.
District officials say the proposed bond would fund improvements outlined in the district’s 2025 Master Plan. Planned projects include renovations at five elementary schools and an expansion of White Pines Intermediate School.
Superintendent Kristin Perkowski outlined a possible timeline that would require the board to decide by its July meeting whether to move forward with a November ballot proposal.
Under the proposed schedule, the district would develop bond options and hold community forums by the end of March, launch a dedicated website in April and draft ballot language by June.
Board members took no action Monday, using the meeting to review the potential process and consider next steps as they weigh community feedback alongside ongoing facility and educational needs.
