Grand Haven, MI (WGHN) – Grand Haven City Council has approved a one-year extension allowing developers of the proposed Grand Landing riverfront hotel additional time to submit final site plans.

Elite Hospitality Group’s preliminary development plan, submitted in January 2025, had expired and required an extension to remain active. Council unanimously approved the request, with the condition that developers provide quarterly progress updates to city staff.

The proposal calls for a four-story, 131-room combined Hampton Inn and Home2 Suites hotel at the Grand Landing Planned Development site north of Adams Avenue and east of Miller Drive. The project was first presented to City Council in the summer of 2024.

Developers cited difficulties securing construction financing and rising construction costs as reasons for the delay. Council members said they were supportive of the extension given the challenges and limited alternative development interest at the site.
