(Lansing, MI) – A federal judge has granted a preliminary injunction to prohibit the state from enforcing its ban on conversion therapy. A Catholic nonprofit and a Lansing therapist sued the state over the ban, which was signed by Governor Whitmer in July 2023 and bans licensed mental health professionals from offering conversion therapy to minors. The therapy aims to change someone’s sexual orientation or gender identity.
The state has until January 27 to file an answer to the lawsuit.
