CROCKERY TOWNSHIP, MI (WGHN) – Westbound I-96 near the Cleveland Street exit was closed for several hours Friday afternoon after a semi-truck lost control on icy conditions and struck a transit van, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash occurred around 2:15 p.m. when the semi, driven by a 60-year-old man from Ontario, Canada, slid on the roadway, collided with the van driven by a 32-year-old man from Twin Lake, and then jackknifed into a guardrail. The semi driver was taken to a hospital with minor injuries, while the van driver was not hurt.
The highway reopened shortly before 5 p.m., authorities said.
