Ferrysburg, MI (WGHN) – A 41-year-old woman was hospitalized after her vehicle crashed into a bayou early Wednesday morning.
The crash happened around 3:15 a.m. on 168th Avenue near West Spring Lake Road, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies said the woman from Spring Lake was driving south when she collided with Ferrysburg Utilities equipment and continued over an embankment into Smith’s Bayou.
The woman was able to swim to shore and shout for help before emergency responders arrived. She was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Deputies said no one else was inside the vehicle at the time of the crash, and no other individuals ended up in the water.
