Michigan AG Declines Charges Against Priest Amid Misconduct Allegations

(Montague, MI) – The Michigan Attorney General’s Office has declined to bring criminal charges against a West Michigan Catholic priest accused of inappropriate behavior by multiple women. Investigators say the case was closed due to statutes of limitation, lack of cooperation from some complainants, or insufficient evidence.

The Diocese of Grand Rapids says the priest resigned and was recalled to his home diocese in Nigeria, while one alleged victim says church leaders failed to protect her.
