. Fast Facts About Breast Cancer

Breast cancer is the most common cancer among American women after skin cancer.

1 in 8 women will be diagnosed in her lifetime — that’s one person every 2 minutes in the U.S.

Men can also get breast cancer, though it’s rare (about 1 in 100 cases).

· Screening and Diagnosis

Routine mammograms are the first step; if abnormalities are found, diagnostic imaging and biopsies are scheduled quickly.

Same-day results are provided whenever possible to reduce anxiety and accelerate care.

. Nurse Navigators: The Heart of Care

Nurse navigators guide patients through diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship.

They provide clarity, emotional support, and help coordinate referrals and resources.

· Know Your Risk and Your Normal

Risk factors include being female, age 50+, family history, and BRCA1/BRCA2 gene mutations.

Understanding your personal risk and recognizing changes in your breast or underarm area is key to early detection.

· Symptoms to Watch For

Changes in breast size or shape

Pain in any area of the breast

Nipple discharge (including blood)

New lumps in the breast or underarm

· Get Screened

Mammograms are the best way to detect breast cancer early.

Women should begin annual screenings at age 40 and continue every other year until age 74.
