(Lansing, MI) – Michigan marked Adoption Day on Tuesday with court ceremonies across the state finalizing new permanent families for children in foster care. Officials say the state has about 10-thousand children in care, with roughly 170 still waiting for adoptive homes. More than 14-hundred children were placed with families over the past year. State leaders highlighted the ongoing need for adoptive homes, especially for teens and sibling groups.

The Michigan Adoption Resource Exchange is offering information for residents interested in adopting.
