HOLLAND, Mich. — A 48-year-old Holland man has been charged with Assault with Intent to Murder, Felonious Assault and Felony Firearm under the Habitual Offender Act – 4th Offense Notice, following a Nov. 15 shooting that injured two people.

Andrew Louis Harper was arraigned Monday on the charges.

Deputies were dispatched to the 90 block of Douglas Avenue after reports of shots fired. When they arrived, they learned the victim—a 27-year-old man—had already been taken to a hospital by a friend. He was treated and later released.

During the investigation, deputies discovered that a second victim, a 25-year-old man, had also been shot. His injuries were minor.

According to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, the shooting happened just minutes after an argument and assault at a nearby business. Several people moved into the parking lot, where a man reportedly pulled out a gun and began firing at the victim and his acquaintances. The group ran across Douglas Avenue into another parking lot as several unoccupied vehicles were struck by gunfire.

Harper’s bond was set at $500,000 cash.
