(Ottawa County, MI) – For a third time this year, the Trump administration is ordering Consumers Energy to keep its J.H. Campbell coal plant running. Secretary of Energy Chris Wright has issued a third emergency order, which will keep the plant open for at least 90 more days. The plant had been slated to close in May, but the administration ordered a first emergency order before the plant could close. Then in August, a second 90-day order was given.
Secretary Wright says that the Department of Energy is ordering the plant to remain open due to a shortage of electric energy in the area.
